ADAMANDIA

The Funny Thing about writing, is that when ever you get the urge to write sometimes, might not be infront of a computer screen nor while sitting at the desk, chewing on the pen or pencil you might be using and waiting for the words to hit you or pour out like a rouring river…or yet still, you might even desperately be happy with just a trickle! A flow of words is desperately needed! You wouldn’t believe when moments of inspiration do hit me…It might be a phrase, a name that might sound good…An idea might nudge a little..or even give you a good swift kick. ” Cool that name has a nice ring or rythm to it…” you might say.”Wow look what’s happening??” you question. “nOt Now..where is it.?” you might say while looking for pens ‘n’ paper.

Even more so extraordinary are long boring moments on a bus or on the Metro, noticing people reading, others looking into space; even those talking to themselves and then noticing a ‘hands free’ they are talking into. The blank faces stand out ..but those that catch your eye are those that smile..Do You smile?Sometimes, I feel I miss the city and whenever I visit it, I notice things that I never used to notice when I was living there. Then in just a moment, a split second, much like the swift kick I mentioned earlier, they do , ideas set in.

Personally, I surely end up talking to yourself or even humming out the music to the lyrics created. “woman you are NOT a Muscian…” I might often say “But it sounds good, doesn’t it?” I end up concluding. Well, a while ago I was visiting Athens. A busy place. No one knows eachother. At least I think they don’t. I was on a bus going down town. Sometimes it takes long but now with the development of the public transport system I expected miricles.” Your there in No Time ..”they would say.

Standing on the bus I was , swaying to the flow of things in the traffic that our bus encountered. Looking out of the window..and noticing another bus passing with actors dressed in yellow tight costumes.Like little yellow men! They looked funny.I later remembered when I saw them on TV .They were rolling a commercial with ‘SM es’.I laughed then and one had turned around and waved at me. I smiled and waved back. I turned and smiled and saw a girl near me that had laughed too. Everyone else was expressionless, so serious or even not interested. I always look for some pleasure in dull moments.

We spoke to eachother and talked about our professions and what we do.Just chatted about work and others expectations .She was lovely. She then got off. Stepped turned and smiled as she waved. The bus must have been rolling in traffic , stopping and rolling..stopping and roling when I decided to frantically look for something to write on. An envolop with a eyeline pencil is what I found. I know others would have used their cell phones but as a visitor to the city I had forgotten mine!I like my time alone sometimes. I then absorbed what I saw and felt….but as a different person from the perspective of what a man might see….so the role adopted to write this poem was from the a man’s view point..I hope I succeeded!Let me know..Ok!

I wrote this poem:ADAMANDIA

Stormy clouds, rainy days…

Rain pouring down…

Drops dancing…

Cleansing the window panes.

Crowed buses..

People on the move..

Traffic at a standstill..

Demonstrations..Oh so soon!

‘Shields Positioned’Out of sight..

They can be perceived..

A Gloomy Time!

They were well Groomed..

As a scene..

A Scene that seemed right

A scene made serine!

In the sea of people..

I saw you there!

Going to work ..

Not knowing where!

Adamandia Your smile

Brightly shone..

A beautiful flair..

I was fond!

Looking at you ..

You couldn’t see!

The tention existed..

That I perceived!

You stepped off..

You took a stride..

Your hair danced

Heading against the tide!

The cold gust of wind..

Blew as you strode..

Your beaming smile..

Is your strength to hold..

wanting to hold!

Adamandia you caught my eye..

As a man

I am glad you read my mind!

You saw me writing describing the scene..

You saw me mezmerised..

with your beauty that gleamed!

You pointed to the sun..

Its rays through the clouds could be seen

With a smile ‘n’ a wink for me to see..

The eyes of people

Are windows with a view..

The love they have for life

Is a love so true!

Adamandia You saw I was a man..

At that moment in time

You whispered your name.

As I did mine!

Adamandia you continued

Your dance your pantomime

In a Time of Frustration..

You were a shrine!
